This was the largest city paving project in Mayo Construction Company’s 100-year history. Over 65,000 tons of Recycled Asphalt Pavement were placed over 160 city blocks. This is a 3-year project, including complete chip seal on the final year. Tight schedule time frames involving schools, businesses, and residential areas impact the entire community. Mayo Construction Company implemented daily public information, providing much needed communication and coordination through social media platforms like Facebook and city publications. This project wrapped in several key partners including 11 subcontractors. Ti-Zack Concrete supplied multiple concrete crews to expedite the construction of 28,000 LF (5.3 miles) of curb replacement and 37,000 SF of sidewalk with numerous concrete driveway portions replaced throughout the city. The project also includes full street reconstruction involving pavement removal, excavation, geogrid, salvaged base, and final paving. Multiple phases will be coordinated simultaneously in an effort to expedite the project and reduce inconvenience to the community.
