This was our largest paving project of 2024, and included over 100,000 tons of asphalt hot mix. ND Hwy 23 is a multi-lane highway with extreme periods of traffic volume on this particular section. This is in part due the copious amounts of oil field activity along the western portion of the project. Paving operations included Intelligent Compaction and the utilization of the Paver Mounted Thermal Profiler, representing the latest technology in asphalt paving. We also had heavy involvement with our Quality Control Program along with additional staff to monitor and keep technology programs running smoothly. This also included the use of E-ticketing, which is electronic load tickets providing information through an App rather than the traditional paper load tickets. Our local crushing subcontractor, Sundre Sand & Gravel, played a critical role in producing materials for the success of this project.
